Louisiana Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

The CE Shop is an approved real estate CE school in Louisiana; license number 9097

Continuing Education and License Renewal Date: 12/31 of each year

 Hours Required By The State: 12 hours

  • 8 mandatory hours
  • 4 elective hours

Effective for 2017, as part of the annual required Continuing Education, all brokers and salespersons are required to complete the mandatory course entitled Insurance Awareness and Contract Timelines – 2017 Mandatory. In addition, the LREC is requiring brokers to complete a separate mandatory course entitled Broker Responsibility - 2017 Broker Mandatory. The 2017 Broker Mandatory Course will only be offered in a live classroom format, and therefore will not be offered by The CE Shop. While a salesperson will only be required to complete the 4-hour mandatory course, Insurance Awareness and Contract Timelines – 2017 Mandatory, brokers will be required to complete both 4-hour mandatory course topics in order to satisfy the mandatory portion of the Continuing Education requirement.  The CE Shop does not currently offer the Broker Responsibility course.

Reporting: Real estate course completions are reported to the Louisiana Real Estate Commission. The state requires schools to report course completions within seven to ten days from the course completion date. Course completions will be reported within this time frame. Core courses are reported to the state by the 10th of the following month.

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course but are generally one year after order date. Each course has an individual expiration date which is listed in your account.

Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with at least a 75% and may be taken as many times as necessary in order to pass. 

Certificates: Upon completion of the course, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies. Please refer to your license renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate of Completion with your license renewal request. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date of your Certificate of Completion will reflect this.

License Renewal Process: The process to renew in this state is to log in to the licensing system online and follow the prompts to renew your license.  https://license.lrec.louisiana.gov/

Post-Licensing: All initial licensees must complete 45 hours of Post-Licensing education within 180 days of the initial license date for their first renewal cycle. The Post-Licensing hours will satisfy 8 of the 12 CE hours required for annual renewal. The remaining 4 hours will be the annual mandatory course. Currently, The CE Shop does not offer the Post-Licensing education in this state.
